HIIT Involves spurts of high intensity exercise or all-out effort followed by a short rest and then another high intensity exercise. This could be anything from performing squats, pushups or running etc with short rest breaks in between. The major reason why HIIT works so well for dropping body fat is due to the greater calorie burn post exercise.
